Congratulations! Recipients of the 2020 Best Rehabilitation Research Awards

Recipients for the 2020 Best Rehabilitation Research Awards have been chosen from an unprecedented pool of abstract authors this year. Recipients will present their research during the 16th Annual Rehabilitation Institute Research Day, co-sponsored by the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and School for Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, to be held on October 7, 2020 from 7:45am to 2:10pm on Zoom. 

The recipients are:

Resident Category – Dr. Matthew Sherrier, “Exaggerated Bone Microarchitecture Defects and Osteopenia After Splenectomy in a Thalassemia Mouse Model”

Post-Doctoral Category – Dr. Brian Dekleva, “Generalizable cursor click control for intracortical brain-computer interfaces”

Pre-Doctoral Category – Marina Levochkina, “High Neutrophil-Lymphocyte-Ratios and Positive Infection Status After Traumatic Brain Injury Increases Hospital Resource Utilization and Worsens Long-term Outcomes”

Medical Student Category – Maya Muenzer, “Descriptive Analysis of the Metformin Effect on Low Back Pain”

Undergraduate Category – Taylor Campbell, “Aligning Acute and Chronic Functional Readouts and utilizing Zolpidem to improve Impairments following Experimental Asphyxial Cardiac Arrest”
