Our physicians work with patients undergoing treatments for conditions like cancer, after organ transplant or amputation, or after prolonged hospitalization and illness, to increase strength thereby improving the body’s healing process. The UPMC RI at Mercy is the primary location for rehabilitation medicine and care for people with traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and other complex medical conditions. The specialty units cater to the unique medical needs after traumatic injuries and prepare patients for returning to the community with the abilities needed for life in their community. All of our inpatient units provide care for those with stroke, neurological diagnoses such as MS, Parkinson's, or Myasthenia Gravis, and complex conditions.
