From talking with current and past residents, UPMC stood out to me as a program that invests in its residents by educating them in all areas of PM&R while also creating a positive community. On my interview day, I saw how the faculty and staff viewed their mission to educate and mentor residents in research, exploring career paths, and becoming physiatrists. Even through the virtual interview, I could tell this was a community I would love to be a part of and a residency program that would give me the opportunities to build my career as a physiatrist. The opportunities for research, clinical experience, and resident community were all strong factors in my decision to choose UPMC for residency.
