Sarah Laughlin, PhD

Dr. Laughlin is a clinical neuropsychologist. She provides neuropsychological evaluation for children with acquired or neurodevelopmental conditions that affect brain development. She provides outpatient and inpatient services, and contributes to multidisciplinary specialty services (e.g. Epilepsy Service) within UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh (CHP). Dr. Laughlin uses evaluation results to make recommendations to families and the child’s broader care team that consider the child’s unique profile of neurocognitive, behavioral and social-emotional strengths and challenges.

Dr. Laughlin is the Director of Predoctoral Training in Pediatric Neuropsychology. She works with local university training program directors to coordinate clinical training experiences in pediatric neuorpsychology for clinical psychology pre-doctoral graduate students and interns.

Finally, Dr. Laughlin is a Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities and Related Disorders (LEND) faculty member. She provides leadership in the context of the LEND Clinic, didactic learning, psychology doctoral student mentorship and recruitment, and as the Principal Investigator of the LEND Outcomes Study.

Clinical Interests: Epilepsy and seizure, autism spectrum disorder, developmental disabilities, intellectual disability and genetic syndromes, neuropsychological effects of childhood trauma and/or maltreatment
