Matthew Maxwell is a physiatrist with sub-specialty board certification in Sports Medicine who sees patients at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex and the UPMC Specialty Care center located in Wexford, PA. He has extensive experience with musculoskeletal pathology and sports-related injuries, with added certification in the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound to both evaluate and treat these conditions. Additionally, he has particular interest in the use of ultrasound in guiding innovative new treatments such the use of autologous blood products (e.g. patient-derived platelet rich plasma) and minimally invasive procedures such percutaneous tenotomy. He also contributes to research in these areas with his collaboration with faculty at the University of Pittsburgh.
