Why did you choose the UPMC residency program?
Initially in medical school, I loved musculoskeletal and neurological anatomy and physiology. While rotating with a PM&R doctor, I noticed how grateful his patients were with his treatments and the amount of pain relief they received. In patient, I appreciated that the medicine was focused optimism and recovery. “Find your tribe” was what I got told when picking a specialty and I finally understood what that mean while working in PM&R. UPMC was my first choice for several reasons. UPMC offered an in-depth and broad PM&R education. I also appreciated the depth of ultrasound training such that there were attendings performing advanced MSK interventions. And finally, I noticed in my interview UPMC had a focus on wellness and health of their residents
