Why did you choose UPMC for residency?

I was fortunate to get exposure to the field of physiatry early in my medical school training and I felt like I finally had a name for the dream career that I had in mind all along. Working with patients and other members of the rehab team with the patient’s personal goals in mind combined the aspects of medicine that I enjoyed the most. As I started to look for my home for residency, UPMC shot to the top of the list because of the way the program supports and sponsors their residents to achieve excellence across all domains of academic medicine. I was lucky to have multiple mentors who have completed their training at UPMC and raved about the program, and the supports of the leadership. I felt that the program would give be the opportunity to maximize my potential as a clinician, researcher and leader in the field of physiatry.
