Why did you choose UPMC residency program?

I have been interested in MSK since my undergrad education in Kinesiology. Many of my friends and colleagues stayed in the field (as PTs, OTs, etc) and I loved the multidisciplinary nature that PM&R provided. Medicine is a team sport in every specialty, but I felt Physiatrists truly understood the meaning of that best. Additionally, PM&R is a melting pot where we need to understand intricacies of many different fields (Medicine, Neurology, etc.). It provides us with a broad range of pathologies and the opportunity to learn new and interesting things from our patients each day.

I had never been to Pittsburgh prior to my interview day but immediately fell in love with the energy and enthusiasm of the people I met here. UPMC itself also provided ample opportunities in all aspects of PM&R with a focus on research and innovation that was important to me when choosing where I wanted to end up.
