Why did you choose UPMC residency program?
I was attracted to the PM&R specialty because I connected with the patient care model as an interdisciplinary and holistic approach. I initially had exposure to Sports Medicine and concussion injury care through UPMC. Through that experience, I was introduced to PM&R specialists and their role in patient care. My knowledge of and exposure to the PM&R specialty during medical school helped me to realize the diversity of patient care experiences that the specialty contains. I felt that the PM&R specialty would best fit my personal philosophy toward patient care and help me achieve my career goals. I was drawn toward the PM&R residency program at UPMC because of the achievements of the department in the field. Also, I am a native to the Pittsburgh area and I saw the opportunity to train in the city where I was raised as a privilege.
